What's Up, Wednesday?

I feel a little bit like my week should be highlighted on VH1's Best Week Ever because...

THE CUBS ARE MOVING ON TO THE NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES!!!!  I have been waiting for this since I was 14.  That was the summer I decided that I would be the coach of the Cubs one day.  Okay, so that didn't quite work out for me, but I'm still mighty happy the Cubs are playing baseball in October.  And if they need me, I'd still be happy to fill in.

What else?  Jason Isbell in concert.  I haven't been looking forward to this quite as long as the Cubs having a chance at the World Series, but it's been several months anyway.  He did not disappoint.   We  did have to watch the progress of the Cubs on the ESPN app rather than on television that evening, but other than that it was just about perfect.

I mean check out this gorgeous sunset.

I finished up Sue Grafton's latest, X, Monday night and was a bit bummed about that.  It'll be another year plus before the next one.  In the meantime, I started reading this:

Wild and domestic animals take over the world?  This is kind of right up my alley, if you know me.  Watch out for those bears.  No joke.

What's Up, Wednesday?

CUBS WIN!!!  I could do a whole post about my love affair with the Cubs, and I just may in the near future.  For now, let's just leave it at I'm overjoyed that the Cubs are in the post season.  What a great night...

I'm also enamored at the moment with the idea of small spaces making me happy.  This is the top of my dining room hutch decorated for Halloween.  Quoth the raven, nevermore.

I've seen this tree on my way to work every day for the past 15 years.  There's something so reassuring about seeing the leaves begin to turn every year.

And, oh, Sue Grafton, how do I love thee?  Let me recite the alphabet ways.  I just started reading this.  Is it possible she'll pick up with the Phoenician or Greek alphabet after she gets to Z?  I can only hope.
